“Glorious are you, more majestic than the mountains full of prey.” –Psalm 76:4
Psalm 76 is a song of victory. No one knows for sure what victory the psalmist is referring to, but regardless, this song is encouraging. It reminds us that there is victory in God. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-present, and he will lead us to victory.
“But you, you are to be feared! Who can stand before you when once your anger is roused? From the heavens you uttered judgment; the earth feared and was still, when God arose to establish judgment, to save all the humble of the earth.”
Psalm 76:7-9
In life, we’ll face many battles, but we can find encouragement in the fact that we do not go into battle alone; God is on our side. Just as Moses told the Israelites as Joshua was being appointed his successor: “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6).
Be strong.
Be courageous.
You are not forsaken.
The God who created the entire universe has your back and the enemy you are facing can’t stand against him. Just look at the scriptures. Over and over, God has proved his strength, love, and grace for his people.
So whether you are going into new territories or facing old giants, take heart because God is going with you into battle. If you’re scared, sing this song of victory and allow its truth to encourage your heart.
