In Psalm 32 you can almost hear David’s audible sigh of relief and the peace he feels having experienced God’s forgiveness. Contrary to what may seem logical, giving free reign to sin does not equate to freedom, but as we learn from this Psalm, freedom comes from confessing our sin and receiving God’s forgiveness. When David sat in his sin without repentance he felt as if his bones were wasting away.
Coming clean and having the humility to repent can be hard. So hard that we’re willing to live through the feeling of our bones wasting away, but living that way will never bring us the freedom we long for. Only repentance and God’s grace can give us that freedom. Take time this week to check your heart and be honest with God because nothing you’ve done can ever scare him away.
