In Psalm 28 we get to see the array of feelings David was feeling as he experienced another trial. At first he struggled with God’s silence, but by the end he was praising God for always being by his side.
Sometimes as we cry out to God it seems like we’re only getting silence in return. This can be disheartening and frustrating, but one thing I’ve learned throughout the years is that silence doesn’t mean you are forgotten. Bradley Hathaway portrays this struggle well in his poem Silence. It ends with God saying, “Just sit here and enjoy the peace I offer in my silence. When I am silent I am listening, and not abandoning.”
Are you experiencing God’s silence? Take heart and remember that you are loved and he has not abandoned you.
