Psalm 11 is a song of unwavering trust in God as our protector.
The Psalmist is asking why he should run and hide when he has already found protection in God. He then communicates that God sees everything and in his righteousness, the upright will be protected.
Have you ever experienced what this Psalm is describing? Has a friend ever said, “You can’t survive on faith. You need to make things happen on your own and protect yourself”? It can be easy to fall into that trap, the trap of being self-sufficient and independent from God. Yet remember, God is faithful, he is righteous, and he will always protect you. To our fallen world, faith in God’s provision may seem naive or irresponsible, but it is important we remain steadfast.
“For the Lord is righteous; he loves righteous deeds; the upright shall behold his face.”Psalm 11:7
When it feels like you are being swept away in a roaring ocean of waves and you feel like you may drown, remember that God will carry you to safety.
When you feel that you can never be enough, remember that God knitted you in your mother’s womb and with him, you are more than enough.
When you’re tempted to say, “I’m a strong, independent woman. I don’t need anyone else,” remember that no matter how self-sufficient you are, you will always need the grace, strength, and hope of God.
Remember, NOTHING can separate you from the love of God; “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:37-39
In our brokenness, we are all in desperate need of him. So remember to trust in God always.
