Lord, how many nights have I lain awake worrying, wondering, fretting and anxious? Why do I struggle to let things go? I seem to forget that you’ve got this, I mean really got this! You created everything from nothing and you created me. Why then do I not trust you to handle my problems (big or small)?
Jesus tells me never be anxious for anything, he teaches me about how you, his Father takes such loving care of the Ravens & lilies, and we mean oh so much more to you than they (Luke 12:22-31). After all, you sent your Son to die for all mankind — not the animals or plants. Yet I still struggle.
I crave the peaceful rest only you can give. I pray to be able to lie down and sleep knowing that you sustain me. I pray that throughout my day, when fear and worry creep up, that I will turn to you, that I will meditate on your Psalms and I will find myself living in your perfect peace. Forgive me God for my distrust and unbelief. One quick glance outside should be enough to remind me of your protection and love.
As the Psalmist says, “But you O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head” (Psalm 3:3). You are my shelter, guard, harbor, haven, defender, and home. Help me to remember and praise you for your gentle, continuous care. You have the universe in your hands (and quite a bit on your plate – lol) yet you see me. You love and care for me, and my heart matters to you. Wow!
I pray today’s devotional blessed your heart and you learned something new about the Bible. If you have a friend who needs to read this please share the post with them, or better yet invite them to join the Study Nook. 💕
