Psalm 47 is all about singing God’s praises. It is a worship song that was penned to remind God’s people to worship him unceasingly because he is deserving.
“Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy!”Psalm 47:1
God is mighty. He is also gracious and merciful. He is worthy of all praise and as his people we should be singing his praises with every breath.
He fights our battles
God alone is worthy of constant praise simply because he is our creator. However, God doesn’t just sit atop a cloud in the sky and watch us from a distance. He is present, and he is for us. He doesn’t leave us to stand alone, but rather he is with us, fighting our battles.
“For the Lord, the Most High, is to be feared, a great king over all the earth. He subdued peoples under us, and nations under our feet.”Psalm 47:2-3
In response to verse 3, Charles Spurgeon said, “The battle is not ours but the Lord’s.” How true that is! We never have to go into battle alone because God is with us and he is our savior!
He is worthy of praise
God is for us and fights our battles, but that does not mean life will be easy. To be honest, there will be times where you’ll wonder where his is or why it feels like life is in a downward spiral. But no matter how bad things get, or whether or not we understand what’s happening, God is still worthy of our praise.
He knows all things. He sees all things. He hears all things. Therefore his plans are perfect. So don’t forget to continue to sing his praises even in the bad times.
